HAZARDOUS AREAS – Gas
Norton Consultants experience and expertise in electrical safety has long been acknowledged in a number of industries, particularly with respect to installations for defined flammable gas/liquid (Zone 0/1/2) hazardous areas.
Recently completed projects in this area includes:
- Shell Company of Australia – Hazardous Area assessments of numerous fuel terminals and depots.
- BP Australia Pty Ltd – Hazardous Area assessments of numerous fuel terminals and depots.
- Qenos Olefins – Hazardous Area Audits and Hazardous Area delineations.
In addition to our general E&I design expertise, our experience includes preparation of Conformity Assessment reports for overseas-certified equipment and audit documentation for routine testing and inspection of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
HAZARDOUS AREAS – Dusts
Norton Consultants experience and expertise in electrical safety extends from liquids/gases to both combustible and explosive dust areas. Our experience includes both delineation of combustible dust hazardous zones (Zones 20/21/22) and assessment of electrical equipment for use within these zones.
Recently completed projects in this area includes:
- MV ‘Lucky Eyre’ – Norton Consultants assisted designers BMT Global here in Melbourne and EMS-Tech, Canada, with the hazardous area delineation and re-design of the hold and gantry spreader system in this unique 3,000-tonne shallow-draft grain lighter to Australian/Lloyds Register requirements.
- Manildra Group, Nowra – Electrical Safety Audits and delination of wheat products and processes.
- Modwood, Campbellfield – Delineation of Wood Flour hazardous zones.
Norton Consultants are acknowledged by Energy Safe Victoria as competent to assess the suitability of uncertified equipment for use in Hazardous Areas. Our Director, Mr Cameron Dorrough, is also the holder of a Class ‘H’ Hazardous Area Electrical Inspectors License as issued by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) under the Electricity Safety Act (Victoria) 1998.
